'ALICE' HISTORY (with grateful thanks to The Quarry Hunslet website)

Built in 1902 with works number 780, 'Alice' stands as the sister engine to Holy War (No. 779). She toiled diligently at the Dinorwic Quarries until approximately 1960. Following her retirement from active duty, she found a new purpose as a source of spare parts at the quarry, where she was ultimately acquired by the then-owner of Holy War.

In 1977, the remaining components of 'Alice' were gathered and meticulously preserved at the Bala Lake Railway. In 1987, Chris Scott took up the mantle of restoration, determined to breathe new life into this venerable locomotive. The remains of 'Alice' were subsequently moved to the owner's garage and later to the Ffestiniog Railway, where the meticulous work on her revival continued.

The Leighton Buzzard Railway, recognising the historical significance of 'Alice,' generously agreed to finance the construction of a new boiler, a crucial step in her restoration journey. Finally, in 1994, 'Alice' emerged triumphant, returning to steam and regaining her rightful place among the marvels of railway history.

This Bachmann Narrow Gauge model of 'Alice' pays homage to the rich legacy of this venerable locomotive, allowing enthusiasts to relish in the glory of her storied past. With its breathtaking attention to detail and faithful recreation of the Dinorwic Quarry Red livery, 'Alice' stands as a true testament to the golden age of steam railways. Whether you're a seasoned collector or new to the world of railway models, this remarkable OO9 Scale model is sure to captivate and inspire. Don't miss your chance to own a piece of railway history with 'Alice.'
